Abstract:
The article discusses theoretical background of Cognitive Linguistics as a branch of science, the goal and problems of a cognitive approach to language. It also specifies theoretical and methodological issues, principles and devices of data analysis, the system of employed concepts and terms, which in general help to distinguish cognition-based investigations of language from other linguistic trends.
