BIOLOGICALLY BASED SEMIOSIS

BIOLOGICALLY BASED SEMIOSIS

Author:  N.A. Abieva

Abstract
Not only the human mind, but the human life as well can be interpreted in terms of continuous semiosis. By means of different semiotic systems cognition of the environment is performed and the ac-cumulated knowledge is passed on. Are signs products of the human mind, or is the ability to operate signs biologically based and inherent in other living systems? Biosemiotic research has discovered in-formation exchange on different stages of bioevolution. This allows the human semiosis to be treated as one of the stages of the unique biosemiosis. But this gives rise to another question: what are the specific features of the human semiosis?
