Abstract: 
The article is aimed at working out the invariant of perception of a limerick as a precedent genre for the British linguacultural community. As the decisive role in precedent text, genre generation and perception belongs to mental structures of knowledge representation, these structures being a traditional analytical instrument of cognitive linguistics can be efficient in linguacultural analysis.
