Abstract:
The paper deals with theoretical aspects of religion-bound place-names study: onomasiological structure of place-names is treated as a cognitive matrix. It is assumed that religious place-names have concept 'place' as their onomasiological basis and a subconcept from cognitive domain 'religion' as their onomasiological marker. Varieties of such a structure are illustrated on the material of English place-names.
