Abstract:
The paper deals with the analysis of the factors that influence the choice of an adjective for a pa-rametrical characteristics of an object. The author shows that dimensional designation in a natural lan-guage is not based on geometrical criteria, but is based on other, evidently more complex rules of human categorization. The author discusses a special role of an observer in the conceptualization of space focusing on the anthropocentric principle of perception of parametrical characteristics of objects.
