Abstract:
The article introduces the theory of sound-colour association analysed on the basis of national specific character of linguistic consciousness of Russian and English native speakers. National systems of inter-sensory association are revealed on the foundation of experimental data and analysis of literature; the basic pattern of audio-visual interrelations is propounded and linguistic mechanisms of the phenomenon are specified.
