Abstract:
The article is the first attempt of a cross-linguistic cognitive study of the fomation of the naive world image. The attention has been focused on the way the Kabardian (one of the languages of Western Caucasus) body-part terms in comparison with other languages (Russian, English) extend to an array of semantic applications outside the body. Typological peculiarities of Kabardian, determined by the unique coexistence of the two models – anthropomorphic and zoomorphic-have been revealed.
