Abstract:
Formation and function of color comparative combinations is under study. Choice of the refer-ence point reflects cognition of classes through profiling class prototype or features and components of a typical class member. Comparison in discourse embodies comparative categorization based on inter-preting reference point knowledge in the cognitive context of the comparison object. Typology of refer-ence points is suggested.
