Abstract: 
The article considers the possibility of employing the cognitive category «observer» as a metho-dological instrument at the level of cognitive discourse analysis. Ways of perceiving and categorizing pragmatic situation in communication have to be expressed in language. The central perceiving and cognizing figure in the situation is observer.
