Abstract:
In this article a particular attention is paid to the concept 'belief'/'faith', its functions, and rela-tions with concepts 'trust', 'knowledge' and 'certainty'. Belief is proved to be based on the ability of an individual to trust without any sufficient reason and may be expressed in the form of trust or subjective certainty. In scientific context belief is opposed to knowledge. Individual belief is less categorical, more subjective and based on empiric experience.
