Abstract:
The article deals with the history and functioning of the letter Ѣ as an ideologically significant element in Russian discourse. The article focuses on the causes and consequences of its removal as part of the spelling reform of 1917-18, as well as on the debate about the reform in academic and literary circles. Special attention is given to the semiotics of the letter in the writings of Russian emigrants and other opponents of the October Revolution.
