ASPECTS OF PROPER NAMES’ COGNITIVE INVESTIGATION

Abstract: 
We point out and describe four trends that exist in cognitive investigation of semantic shifts con-nected with proper names: conceptual metaphor theory (G. Lakoff, M. Johnson, etc.), conceptual inte-gration or conceptual blending theory (G. Fauconnier, M. Turner, etc.), reference theory of identifiers and pseudoidentifiers (S. Kripke, T. Bulygina, A. Shmelev, A. Babushkin, etc.) and precedent phenomena theory (Y. Karaulov, V. Krasnykh, D. Gudkov, etc.).
