Abstract: 
The article under consideration deals with ways of representation of deontic meanings of permis-sion in the texts of Russian and German folk superstitious beliefs. Multilevel analysis of the material is done through a communicative-pragmatic approach to reveal universal and specific features of paroemiologic imperative utterances of the languages compared.
