Abstract:
In the article the author diverges from the traditional interpretation of precedent units in lin-guistics. Precedent phenomena in the language are dealt with from the points of view of cognitive lin-guistics as derived units in vocabulary, grammar and word-formation on the basis of language and va-lue knowledge. The author studies the cognitive base of precedent units: their categorical characteristics, types of precedents and kinds of precedence, tackles the problem of onomasiology.
