Abstract: The article deals with metaphor as a mental representation along with some peculiarities of its existence in the cognitive base of the individual. It gives support to the approach that considers metaphor as a manner of thought "to conceive" reality (to obtain itself in reality) or a manner of reality "to be represented" in cognitive activity.
