Abstract:
The aim of the article is to conduct a research on the general and specific features of the com-pound words in modern Lezghin and English languages on the criteria of their components' structure. It states that the Lezghin language tends more to verbal composition whereas English tends to nominal composition. English compounds N + N are used more frequently in comparison with the Lezghin com-pounds. Most often Lezghin compounds A + N correspond to the pattern N + N in English.
