CONNOTATION AS A GNOSEOLOGICAL UNIVERSAL

Abstract: 
Within the interdisciplinary paradigm the article analyses the phenomenon of connotation and deduces the universal character of the phenomenon, as well as its direct relation to cognitive processes. It grounds the author's concept of connotation's belonging to cultural codes – gnoseological, or cognitive universals and also to cultural and linguistic universals. The author argues the choice of the term "gno-seological universal" instead of "cognitive universal" accepted in Western scientific discourse.
