Abstract:
This paper is aimed at exposing connections between the formation of new lexical units and changes in the linguistic world picture. Formation and functioning of neologisms prove inseparable as-sociation of derivational processes with a socio-cultural situation and cognitive reflection of personal experience. The analysis of neologisms, which constitute one of the sources of word stock development, will help to reveal relationships between the cognitive word-formation mechanisms, which take place in the lexical system of a language, and changes in a linguistic world image.
Keywords: neologisms, linguistic world image, word-formation, cognition, cognitive mechanisms, nomination, language change.
