Abstract
In the paper different stereotypes of Russia are observed. These stereotypes describe the pecu-liarities of the American journalistic discourse of different periods. They are considered to form the structure of the RUSSIA concept which is a) a socio-cultural concept and b) very specially actualized in the discourse. In its structure the amount and variety of ideological descriptors increase. Stereotypes discover the society's ideology and are systematized in the discourse and subdiscourses and in the concept's structure. They are frequently evoked in a discourse; they also have an associative character and are culturally determined.
