Abstract:
The present paper considers the facts that influence euphemisms closely connected with ethnic and national groups. The frequency of such usage has been increasing in up-to-date informal and spoken English. The evidence taken together suggests that set-expressions and idioms form stereotypes that seem hard to beat.
Keywords: political correctness, euphemisms, ethnic and national groups, cultural shock.
