Abstract:
In the given article we consider the phenomena of indirect communication found in speech acts of irony and mockery. In the course of research of the given indirect figures of speech we applied the research tools of discourse analysis to reveal the latent potential stored in them. The material to be in-vestigated was taken from the Phraseology dictionary of Russian and placed in concrete communicative situations of dialogues involving both speaking and listening.
