ARCHETYPICAL OPPOSITION SELF – OTHER AS A CONCEPTUAL BASE OF ENGLISH ADJECTIVES MEANING

Abstract
The article focuses on the conceptual structures determining the semantics of English adjectives that denote a human being’s mental characteristics. It is argued that the archetypical opposition SELF – OTHER forms the conceptual base of semantics of certain adjectives in question. The author describes how this conceptual opposition is realized in the meanings of the adjectives.
