Abstract
The article is dedicated to the investigation of metaphorical modeling in the characteristics of the systems of education in Russia and Great Britain. There is the prevalence of industrial metaphor in representation of the system of education in the discourse under analysis. It is industrial metaphor that identifies specialists of the educational system with manufacturing employees who aim at producing a high-quality product represented by a depersonalized student. The system of education is conceptualized as a trade, a system of manufacturing enterprises. The frames of industrial metaphor are “Structure of an industrial subject/ object”, “Operation of a mechanism”, “Principle of functioning within industry”. A standardized, utilized character of the system concept functioning in the social consciousness is highlighted.
