Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of forming a linguistic cognitive base in people's studying a second language.
The theoretical and empirical interest reveals some major advantages and implication of a sec-ondary cognitive linguistic base formed in the process of learning a second language. This does not only include the learner's cognitive and linguistic structures stored in the mind, but also cultural and mental skills which give ideas about his sense of objects, their significance and value orientations.
The cognitive database will facilitate the students' implementation of speech and mental activity in assimilating to a foreign language.
Thus the article concerns the problems of foreign language assimilation. The theme of the article is relevant, as the question of second language acquisition, as well as other languages is urgent due to the globalization and expansion of international contacts. The cognitive basis of the theory of the second language learning is inadequately developed yet. Therefore the article focuses on the use of the cognitive approach in teaching a foreign language; it considers the possibility of forming a bilingual person's cognition-based secondary language awareness; the components of such basis and the common features standing behind the bodies of the signs are studied.
