Abstract
Religious issues are a recognized centre of F.M. Dostoevsky’s art creativity, and the concepts of GOD and DEVIL are central constituents of the writer’s linguistic view of the world, therefore they have turned to be the subject of the article in terms of means and ways of their explication and implications in the text of the novel “Crime and punishment”.

The aim of the research which is to analyze and describe the basic means of linguistic representation of the concepts GOD and DEVIL in the text of the first novel of Dostoevsky’s “Great Pentateuch” has predetermined the use of such methods, as conceptual analysis, description, componential analysis, etc. Results of the research obtained, we have come to the following conclusions. The nominative field of GOD and DEVIL concepts, which are no doubt central constituents of Dostoevsky’s Orthodox worldview, is revealed on the level of words, primarily with “God”-root lexemes (the change of the root consonant is observed), nouns Lord, God and some others, on the one hand, and the devil, fiend and some synonyms, on the other. Implicitly, devil (devilry, devildom) and less often God semes are expressed mainly on superlexical and text levels through a common modal plane of speech, i.e. it can be stated that the concepts of GOD and DEVIL are objectivated on different levels of the text by different degree of complexity language units. This applies to the whole “Pentateuch” in general and to the novel “Crime and punishment” in particular. These results can be used in educational process and in research connected with the peculiarities of F.M. Dostoevsky’s idiostyle.
