Abstract

The article considers the cognitive grounds of formation of evaluative meanings for the field “human being” on the basis of knowledge structures verbalized in lexical categories that represent world’s ontology. The conceptual content and structure of the lexical categories make up their interpretative potential. It means that differential properties of the categorial elements are viewed as basic concepts for evaluative conceptualization. The realization of interpretative potential of such categories as “birds”, “animals”, “artifacts”, “objects of inanimate nature”, “nature phenomena” is conditioned by their ability to deliver evaluative conceptualization of domains of the field “human being”: “physical parameters”, “psyche”, “socialization”. It becomes possible in the course of setting corresponding inter-conceptual connections in the process of conceptual derivation.
Thus, the domain “physical parameters”, as differentiated in the sub-domain “human appearance”, acquires evaluative conceptualization through such lexical categories as “birds”, “animals”, “plants”, “substances”. The domain “psyche” is realized in the sub-domains “intellectual abilities”, “behavior”, “disposition”. The evaluative profile of this domain is represented by the categories “animals”, “birds”, “fruits”, “artifacts”, “nature phenomena”. The domain “socialization”, as differentiated in the subdomain “social status”, is conceptualized in terms of the categories “birds”, “fruits”, “artifacts”, “nature phenomena”.
The analysis of evaluative conceptualization of the field “human being” reveals that lexical units of different “ontological” categories form a group on the basis of their ability to effect characterizing interpretation of the field in question. It entails their entering evaluative categories as their non-prototypical members.
