CONTRIBUTION OF MODAL PARTICLES TO THE COGNITIVE-COMMUNICATIVE PERSPECTIVE OF THE UTTERANCE

Abstract:  We focus on cognitive and pragmatic aspects of statements becoming modal due to the use of particles. 
The purpose of the research implies the identification, classification and description of the communicative and pragmatic characteristics of the statement interacting with verbal and cognitive aspects involved in sense formation.
We have used methods of comparison and substitution.
Statements are investigated from the perspective of cogitology (branch of cognitive researches), according to which science gives a multifaceted, multidimensional explanation of the knowledge embodied in language and expressed in speech.
The study of the cognitive-communicative functions of the statements with modal particles encompasses particularly important issues, such as concept, cognition, communikeme, pragmeme, revealing a broad palette of subjective-modal senses.
The analysis has shown that modal particles are multifunctional which implies they modify various communikemic – pragmemic complexes depending on the communicative tasks and the aims of the speakers involved in a dialogue.
Obviously, such polyfunctionality is the result of the contextual-semantic dependence of the modal particles on the concept and cognition (cogitological aspect).
In conclusion, modal particles play a leading part not only in terms of implementation of various intentional speaking installations within statements (specify certain communicative – pragmatic perspective), but also in terms of a listener’s adequate understanding of the statement content and a speaker’s influence on him/her in the process of communication.
