INTERPERSONAL ARGUMENTATION THROUGH THE CONCEPT OF DISTRIBUTED COGNITION (ON THE BASE OF BIBLICAL ARGUMENTS)

Abstract:  The term “Interpersonal argumentation” refers to arguments that are not considered as isolatedartifacts, but representations of human attitudes, emotions, beliefs and intuition.
Applying the theory of distributed cognition to studying the interpersonal argumentation gives an opportunity to view language in communication as a part of social and physical environment. This environment refers to various artifacts, gestures, audible and visual signals, graphics and symbols of computer technologies.
The most important component of this environment is socially and subjectively conditioned values, patterns of social behavior and stereotypes that are distributed across the members of a social group in space/time. The aforesaid component is an implicit constituent of persuasion that can be investigated through “topos” as part of argumentative discourse.

Keywords:  “topos”, argumentation, distributed cognition, three waves of cognitive science
