Abstract:  The subject matter of the research is the analysis of metaphorical units derivation in the English management terminological system in terms of the gender. The article deals with the contemporary English-language management terminology in the metaphorical aspect. The authors consider the metaphor as both a stylistic device and a complex cognitive mechanism related to the language, consciousness, cognition, thought, etc. The authors single out at least ten metaphorical models in the English-language management terminology: «MANAGEMENT IS MOVEMENT IN A CERTAIN DIRECTION», «MANAGEMENT IS MILITARY ACTIONS», «MANAGEMENT IS A WORLD OF NATURE» (including such models, as «MANAGEMENT IS A WORLD OF ANIMALS» AND «MANAGEMENT IS A WORLD OF PLANTS»), «MANAGEMENT IS A WORLD OF HUMANS», «MANAGEMENT IS A SCIENCE», «MANAGEMENT IS COMMODITY RELATIONS», «MANAGEMENT IS FASHION», «MANAGEMENT IS A DISEASE», «MANAGEMENT IS A MEDICINE», «MANAGEMENT IS A GAME». 350 out of 800 examined discursive fragments of males and females contained metaphors and metaphorical terms. The analysis has shown that the processes of metaphorization concern both the management terminology and common lexis used in the discourse of this special professional sphere. The complex method of analysis is used in the management terminology study, consisting of definitional, descriptive, component, quantitative and other methods.
The authors come to the conclusion that metaphorization can be considered as a productive way of terminological units formation in the sphere of nomination of phenomena, strategies and tactics of management.
