Abstract:  The research is based on cognitive poetics ideas and concepts developed in works by M.M. Bakhtin, V.I. Zaika, A. Kiklevich, L.V. Miller, I.A. Tarasova, Y.A. Sorokin et al. The present article is an effort to include text (aesthetic) motivation into the subject matter of cognitive poetics.
The research is based on a thesis that cognitive poetics is an interdisciplinary sphere of a literary text study. The target of the research is verbal aesthetic activity. The subject matter is text motivation as a cognitive process of aesthetic communication. In the research we use one of cognitive poetics methods – that of reconstruction of derivational senses in the text, as well as methodology of contextual and interpretational kinds of analysis. The dynamic and static aspects of text motivation are being comprehended in the research process. We reveal mechanisms of forming and decoding derivational senses constituting the derivational-sense space as a special format of knowledge having text nature.
The research results broaden the scope of ideas about mechanisms of text reception and could be useful for studying an individual sphere of concepts and the conceptual structure of a literary text. The article proves the necessity to consider text motivation as a pragmatic component of aesthetic communication.

Keywords:  text motivation, aesthetic motivation, aesthetic communication, mental structures, frame, concept, derivational senses, derivational-sense text space
