Abstract:  The article views the peculiarities of lexicographic description of the English and Russian phraseological units containing evaluation of professional activity. Creation of the Dictionary of the English and Russian Phraseological Units Containing Evaluation of Professional Activity is an attempt of systematic description of these linguistic units of professional semantics in the aspect of correlation of language, cognition and culture. The aim of the Dictionary is to describe mechanisms of evaluative categorization of professional activity by means of the English and Russian phraseology, to systematize shades of evaluative sense in the English and Russian linguocultures.
Analysed are the Dictionary’s structure created within the cognitive approach, the entries’ parts that include etymological commentary on the interaction of image content of a phraseological unit with cultural layers, knowledge of everyday and professional activity as represented in Russian and English, cognitive mechanisms of evaluative categorization of professional activity and illustrative material since the 2000s.
