SCIENTIFIC-POPULAR TEXT AND ITS CATEGORICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract:  In the article the author views a scientific-popular text as a separate functional style in the system of functional styles of language.
The author analyses the questions related to general issues of learning style of scientific-popular literature, such as its main features and place in the system of language, its place in the language description and typology of texts.
All the basic factors of functional styles are considered and it is proved that the scientific-popular text is not secondary.
The author represents her own definition of the status of scientific-popular style.
The author examines the interpretation of scientific and scientific-popular literature presented in the linguistic literature, and its place in contemporary literature, and on the basis of the analysis provides the reader with an understanding of its nature and status of scientific and scientific-popular literature, complementing and developing the arguments presented in the literature review of supporters of this type of texts, as autonomous varieties of discourse.
In her theoretical constructs the author relies on the analysis of a great amount of multi-lingual text material. It is not presented in the text of the article (the text illustrations based on the material of several languages, occupy a volume, which is incompatible with the format of a journal article), but the author compensates it by referring the reader to her monograph, where the text analysis is presented in sufficient quantity.
Using a multi-lingual material allows you to select both general and specific characteristics of the national scientific and scientific-popular literature with regard to its nature and status.
