SEMASIOLOGY ON THE MEANING OF WORDS

Abstract:  The article is devoted to the definitions of the category of word meaning in semasiology, the subject of which lies in the problems of meaning of lexical units.
The authors present different interpretations and understanding of the meaning of words in this article which also emphasizes the importance of the development of semasiology as studying the mental images making up the meaning of words – the all – scientific problem.
The authors come to the conclusion that the general theory of word meaning which could be recognized by all scientists is not created yet. Meanwhile the development of this theory is one of the conditions of successful development of semasiology, and hence understanding the language consciousness of people.
