EVALUATION OF INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS IN ENGLISH

Abstract:  The goal of this article is to disclose the specifics of evaluative categorization in the domain of interpersonal relations. The authors focus on three levels of evaluative categorization – superordinate, basic and subordinate, as well as evaluative categories of each level and their characteristics. Its main topic centers around the categories of the superordinate level – “acceptable»/«unacceptable”; the categories of basic level – “good»/«bad” and the categories of the subordinate level – “cooperative/ uncooperative”, “beneficial/ harmful”, “reliable/ unreliable”, “effective/ ineffective”, “harmonious/ inharmonious”, “supportive/ unsupportive”, “friendly/ unfriendly”, “close/ distant”. The authors describe the concept INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS and put forward the suggestion that its characteristics overlap the evaluative criteria, which leads to construing new knowledge. The authors used the method of the conceptual-definitional analysis in the article. On the basis of this method categorial and subcategorial properties of interpersonal relations are defined and the level organization of evaluative categories is disclosed. The evaluative categories are considered to be meta-schemas for predicting the behavior in different situations.
