COGNITIVE ASPECT OF HISTORICAL FIGURE PRESENTATION IN ALEXANDER SOLZHENITSYN’S “THE RED WHEEL”

Abstract:  The article studies the cognitive approach and its role in detecting the specifics of the author’s interpretation of the historical heroine in A. Solzhenitsyn’s epic “The Red Wheel”. The author claims that conceptualization is based not so much on the writer’s using variegated language means, but rather on correlation of the text with the author’s philosophy and the historical person’s deeds in which his/her psychology and social credo manifest themselves. The author gives priority to the analysis of the subject forms: the relationship of the storyteller and the historical person and also an internal distance between them.
The author of the article comes to a conclusion that Solzhenitsyn involves the sphere of psychophysiology of a person to penetrate into an essence of the hero’s character: memory, emotions, correlation between psychological parameters of behavior and acts. The writer uses verbal and art means: non-personal direct (half-reported) speech, rhythm, the italics, discharge; intonation components: exclamatory and interrogative sentences, rhetorical questions.
The results of the research may be applied to further investigating A. Solzhenitsyn and other writers’ philosophy of history; to text interpretation with the focus on the language world view; to studying the concepts WAR and REVOLUTION.
