CONCEPT POETRY AS A DISTINCTIVE CHARACTERISTIC OF CONCEPTSPHERE OF RUSSIAN INTELLIGENTSIA (based on Zakhar Prilepin’s novel “Abode”)

Abstract:  The aim of the article is to study the content dynamics of the concept POETRY as the crucial sign of the cultural constant ‘Russian intelligentsia’ on the basis of Zakhar Prilepin’s novel “Abode” (2015). The paper investigates the prototype changes underlying the lexical meaning of the concept, revealing its interpretive character specified by the influence of historical epoch, individual and social experience, philosophy development and evolution of esthetic forms. It is taken into account, that in the context of the artistic work the “poetry” concept acquires peculiar semantic, symbolic, image-bearing and structural features reflecting the author’s individual concept sphere. The “poetry” concept changes are researched from the Indo-European origin to the meaning that is characteristic of the 1920s, fixed by the writer.
The development of the prototypical “poetry” concept, connected with changes in mentality, value and social guidelines of  the commons sphere as well as later in  the Soviet intelligentsia, took part in the end  of the XIX-th beginning of  the XX-th century proceeding from the meanings close to the ‘faith’ concept (prophecy, truth, freedom, eternity, wisdom, purity of heart) up to the notions close to the ‘atheism’ concept (sophistication, idleness, empty talk, evil aestheticism, charms, slyness, nonsense, disgrace, frailty).
The author argues that a mixed constituent of the “poetry” concept as the ‘Russian intelligentsia’s mental identification sign is expressively and artistically represented in Zakhar Prilepin’s work.
