Abstract:  The subject matter of the paper refers to a complex analysis of conceptual metaphor in the original and version texts of the Bible.
The author’s aim is to approve the method of metaphor analysis, which allows to identify relations between lexical items and conceptual base of metaphor. The author offers a four-step method for
identifying metaphor related words in the corpus (in ancient Greek), revealing their conceptual base and comparing different variants of their transfer in contemporary versions of the Bible. This algorithm involves the elements of different methods, such as general corpus linguistic methods, metaphor identification procedure (MIP) initiated by a group of scholars from Amsterdam VU and the method of conceptual analysis of linguistic metaphor by G. Steen.
As a result we get an important instrument for metaphor analysis, which can be impartially verified on each step. Moreover, it allows to compare different versions with the original text. The results obtained can be applied to the linguistic, conceptual and translation aspects of metaphor studying.
