META-LANGUAGES: NATURE AND CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES

Abstract:  The article deals with the problem of modelling the reality by means of semantic meta-languages. In order to represent the reality in a realistic way, to describe linguistic phenomena and to make significant connections between them it is important not only to work out effective techniques of examining those phenomena but also to develop rational ways of choosing elements of scientific interest and to present results gained in the course of experiments effectively, to classify them and to generalize them. The aim of our research is to make a model of an artificial semantic meta-language which can help cope with this task. Modelling as one of the ways of real world objects perception implies rendering the characteristic features of objects in accordance with practical needs of researchers. The essence of the notion ‘meta-language’ is considered to be connected with the natural human language. A meta-language is an artificial language which was created with the purpose of describing a natural human language in order to reveal its properties and peculiarities. As a result of the work, the authors revealed the significant characteristics, gave their examples and on this basis presented their classification.
