Abstract:  This research concerns comparative studying of the abstract frame “tolerance” in Russian and German migration media discourses on the material of articles from printed mass media. The combined methodology of frame semantics and discourse theory is implemented. The study illustrates three steps of the frame analysis that is used as the main research method, which are working out the matrix structure of the frame “tolerance,” revealing and analyzing the frame concrete fillers, and concluding with the frame standard values.
As the result of the frame analyses, we come to a conclusion about the main discourse strategies of the three media discourses under study. The method of connecting frame semantics and the theory of

discourses enabled us to reveal some deep discourse strategies of Russian and German migration media discourses. While the frame slots are all the same in the three discourses, the concrete fillers reveal quantitative as well as qualitative differences. The deepest frame elements – standard values that form the discourse strategies – show again both similarities and some contradictions between discourses or between elements within one discourse.
It is quite obvious that here we are dealing with some complicating factors which need to be the object of interdisciplinary research. Among such factors, one can name processes of globalization and the forming of one discourse paradigm for different national communities.
