Abstract:  The article considers conditions of complex knowledge formation via revealing processes of the interplay of cognitive and metacognitive levels in human cognition.
The distinction of the given levels is connected with the distinction of declarative and procedural types of knowledge. The declarative knowledge is static, it is presented in the form of concepts and can be verbalized. The procedural knowledge is dynamic, it is presented in the form of cognitive strategies and procedures, aimed at configuring the experiential knowledge and regulating the relations between various concepts. The procedural knowledge cannot be verbalized. Moreover, it is the declarative knowledge that can be interpreted by the procedural knowledge.
The author also describes cognitive strategies of complication and comparison. The strategy of complication is analyzed on the basis of metaphoric and metaphtonimic models, whereas the strategy of comparison is described on the basis of complex category of comparativity.
The perspective of this research consists in using the given results for investigating the other types of complex knowledge.

Keywords:  cognitive level, metacognitive level, declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge,
