Abstract:  The authors describe in the article the linguistic means of the English language representing the ideas about the upper area expression. They reveal the characteristics of the concept UPPER AREA EXPRESSION, which mentally represent the information about the perceptual acquisition of the upper area expression, and interpretive characteristics.
The characteristics that give ideas about the perceptual acquisition of the upper area expres-sion are ‘forehead muscle movement’, ‘wrinkle formation’, ‘eyebrow (near-brow zone) movement’, ‘forehead and eyebrow movement’; the interpretative characteristics being the ‘emotional state’, ‘functional (physiological) state’ and ‘sign of communicative intention’.
It is shown that the identified linguistic means tend to represent certain interpretative characteristics that can be viewed as dominant ones. The authors consider cognitive mechanisms of secondary conceptualization and interpretation of the upper area expression: “conceptual meta-phor”, “conceptual metonymy”, “conceptual metaphtonymy”, “conceptual comparison”, “focus-ing”, “refocusing”, “re-accentuation”, “conceptual integration” which demonstrate that the integrated use of cognitive mechanisms enables to describe the situation of facial movement more exactly, taking into account a person’s states, emotions and intentions.
The way of presenting the situation of facial movement is determined by the predisposition of an individual to lingvo-creative thinking.

Keywords:  nomination of facial movements, secondary conceptualization, interpretation,
concept UPPER AREA EXPRESSION, dominant meanings, cognitive mechanisms.
