Abstract:  The associative experiment and various methods of analyzing language material helped the authors reveal an amount of lexical units having associative links in the Uzbek language and highlight their generalized semantic factor. Admittedly, the main characteristics of these lexical units – synonymic, antonymic and enantiomeric – are based on associative connection. Some of these lexical units due to the semantic associations acquired the status of lexemes having a dictionary meaning.
The cognitive factors engendering the associative database in the Uzbek language are scientifically grounded: perception of reality, knowledge, linguistic skills, opportunities of linguistic memory.
The analysis carried out proves the necessity of studying the associative connections, the associative meanings of language units, their division into associative groups, and the constituents of an associative field.
The analyzed material of the given article will serve for benefit and enlargement of further scientific research on the issue of language associations.

Keywords:  associative linguistics, associative method, associative attitude, paradigmatic attitude,
