COGNITIVE GROUNDS FOR FORMING SUBSTANTIVIZED ADJECTIVES (at the material of the English and Lezgin languages)

Abstract: 
The article deals with some aspects of cognitive analysis of the substantivized adjectives, seman-tics and links between source and target units on conceptual level, in particular. Three semantic groups of substantivized adjectives, representing colour, taste and temperature characteristics are in the focus of study. Cognitive analysis of substantivized adjectives in the English and Lezgin languages reveals propositional structures underlying the formation of mental spaces in the compared languages.
