WHAT’S THERE IN MY «NAME» FOR YOU? (COMPATIBILITY OF NOUNS AND ADJECTIVES VIEWED FROM A COGNITIVE APPROACH)

Abstract: 
The article looks upon the investigation of the word-combinations built according to the model adjective + noun, which are to be named Russian attributive complexes (ACs). The main task is to display all the types of ACs (which play a very important role in the linguistic picture of the world, both of an individual and of a whole ethnos) existing in the modern Russian language, beginning with absolutely free ones (compare with free combinations) and up to completely united ones (compare with phraseologisms), and to describe them within the frames of a cognitive-discursive paradigm. The article also reveals the first attempt to classify the discovered attributive complexes depending on the degree of deductibility – undeductibility of the compositional semantics of the abovementioned constructions from the sum of the meanings of their components and the connection between them.
