Abstract:
Metaphors of political discourse conceptualize images of some country, political institution or a particular politician. Perception of our country abroad and foreign attitude that we can count on depend on the image of Russia created by foreign mass media. At that, one has to keep in mind that political metaphors are a most powerful means of manipulating public conscience, the cunning part of which is its latent impact that only a specialist is able to identify and confront. This article considers the metaphorical image of Russia and its President that is being created in the political discourse of the United States of America and Great Britain.
