Abstract:
The article describes the problem of studying discourse as a high level language unit of synthesis of two linguistic directions: cognitive and communicative. All types of speaking are divided into four classes: heuristic, regulative, expressive, fatic communication. These classes depend on macro intention of a speaker. They are represented by information, argument, social-ceremony types of discourse, cha-racterized by a special form of illocutive utterances.
