Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the problems of semantic development of adjectives studied in terms of prognostication of some parts of national conceptual sphere. Metaphors do not only help to reconstruct cognitive attributes, composing a concept and its value part, but classify them as a kernel or periphery and find out national peculiarity of understanding some concepts. Thus, the analysis of English adjec-tives gives an opportunity to predict different types of beauty in English conceptual sphere – earth beauty, demonic beauty and classic beauty characteristic of true lady or gentleman. The peculiarity of national conceptual sphere causes foundation of distinctive features of metaphoric process in the English language.
