Abstract
The paper deals with the semantics of Mongolian words er 'man' and em 'woman', which are basic concepts of any view of the world. They appeared due to acoustic and visual perception, which play an important role in the process of verbalization of visual information. Cognitive approach to lexicon allows understanding driving force of language's mechanism, revealing lingvocultural specific charac-ter of the primordial mentality.
