Abstract:
The object of analysis in the article is the antithesis as an expressive syntactic figure. Conditioned by the author's constructive method, it reflects his outlook and serves as a basic trope to underlie not only The Brothers Karamazov, but the whole of his creative work. Antithesis is Dostoevsky's main ex-pressive means used to objectify his view of people as Jekyll-Hyde beings.
