Abstract:
The author analyses the notions of connotation, linguistic competence and social intellect within the anthropocentric paradigm and comes to a conclusion of their integral interconnection, as well as in-terdependence of the phenomena of connotation, language consciousness and public consciousness. The author concludes that language consciousness and competence are formed under the influence of con-notation in conditions of continuous emotionally charged communication. The article also considers the phenomena of public conscience manipulation and offers a hypothesis of mass media influence transforming connotative fields of words.
